The land area under cotton cultivation in Iran is to hit some 200,000 hectares during the current Iranian year 1383 (March 20, 2004-March 19, 2005).
The general director of Golestan Province’s cotton factories cooperative in an interview with the Mehr News Agency said that the land area under cotton farming has increased by 8,000 hectares in Golestan Province mounting up to 30,000 hectares.
Asadollah Pak’seresht added that it is predicted that the volume of cotton production during the current year will amount to some 60,000 tons in Golestan Province, which is 16,000 tons higher than the corresponding figure in the past Iranian year. (menareport.com)
