The Iranian navy held another day of exercises Tuesday in the Gulf's busy Strait of Hormuz, which carries some 20 percent of the world's oil exports.
State radio said underwater craft and some 1,500 members of naval forces took part in the third of five days of naval exercises as Iran marks the 20th anniversary of its 1980-1988 war with neighbouring Iraq.
As it does every year, the Islamic republic is staging a series of air, land and sea exercises to mark the anniversary.
Last week a top naval official announced Tehran would soon bring out its first domestically manufactured missile-equipped destroyer, while the nation's first mini-submarine made in Iran was launched last month.—AFP.
