Dr. Salah Alkabeisi, a well known Iraqi economist, has recently delivered a lecture titled “The role of privatization program to increase competition capacities.“ He stressed that the current economic system in Iraq does not match global developments.
He affirmed that the privatizations process in Iraq needs to be well planned in order to make all changes and transformation in a successful manners. He pinpointed the problems to be fixed before privatization. Problems such as adjusting the management methods and rehabilitating public sector companies, should be addressed, he pointed out.
In his closing remarks, cited by <i>Azzaman</i> newspaper, Dr. Alkabeisi affirmed that the Iraqi cabinet will realize that privatization would be a very beneficial method to improve the performance of the domestic economy.
