Iraqi mobile phone market growing rapidly

According to <i>Al-Ahli</i>, the mobile phone sector in Iraq is rapidly growing. The three main companies in that field have accomplished their objectives, the report added. These companies are: MTC-Atheer (in the south), Orascom (Iraquna) in central Baghdad and Asia  Cell in the north.


Atheer has more than 1 million customers while Iraquna boasts 1.5 million clients. Ali Aldahwi, Atheer  CEO told the newspaper that the Iraqi mobile phone sector is growing and his company is attracting new customers in a fast rate.

 

He added that the company exceeds the initial investment of US$120 million and it offered 5000 jobs. According to him, this number may increase to 10,000 at the end of the current year. Worth to mention that Atheer is one of the companies of Kuwait’s MTC Group, which operates also in Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Lebanon.
