Average Iraqi oil export to the United States totaled 862,000 barrels per day in April 2001, according to London based Al-Hayat daily. This quantity accounted for 22 percent of the daily US oil imports during the same month, more than twice the amount from Kuwait, which did not exceed 11 percent.

Nonetheless, oil from Iraq only reached one third of Saudi oil exports to the US during the same period—a figure which stood at 66 percent of all American oil imports. –(MENA Report)
