The Israeli army has decided to market its knowledge of urban warfare by offering training courses to foreign armies. In a bid to improve relations with its allies and increase revenues, the army will offer fee-based training sessions at the Tactical Training Center (TTC), Zeelim Base.
"We've already approached a few armies on the matter,” a senior army officer told Israeli daily Haaretz . TTC is equipped with technology that can simulate battles between various units under electronic supervision and documentation, enabling a comprehensive evaluation of soldier activity.
The US army has already turned to the Jewish state for anti-resistance training. Israeli advisers are helping train US special forces in aggressive counter-insurgency operations in Iraq, including the use of assassination squads against guerrilla leaders, US intelligence and military sources revealed.
Occupation forces in the Arab state’s Sunni populated areas have already begun to use tactics that echo Israeli operations in the occupied territories, including sealing off resistance strongholds with razor wire and demolishing buildings from where attacks have been launched against US troops. The Israeli army is also known to have trained Indian forces in conflict with Muslim populations in the area of Kashmir.
The foreign training initiative is likely to be promoted at an urban warfare conference headed by the army in March. With dozens of representatives from foreign armies expected to attend, the event will highlight tactics used by the Israel forces in the West Bank and Gaza strip. — (menareport.com)
