The Italian glass-processing machinery and accessories suppliers’ association, (GIMAV) has confirmed it will make its first trade show appearance in the Middle East at the Glass, Ceramics, Minerals and Mining show, to be held in Dubai this month, stated a press release.

The association represents more than 90 percent of Italian companies operating in the machines, accessories and special products sectors for the glass working industry. According to the Italian Central Statistics Institute, exports of flat glass to the Middle East were valued at €13 million in 2000, while exports of hollow glass were worth €11 million.

“According to a recent study, the Middle East accounts for nearly 10 percent of all international orders won by the world’s top 225 contractors, fuelling the demand for glass and glass processing machinery. Region wide, there’s an increasing demand for new technology and suppliers in both the construction and industrial sectors,” said Vice Chairman of International Expo-Consults, Mohammed Falaknaz.

Glass, Ceramics, Minerals and Mining Middle East 2002 is the region’s only trade event for the rapidly expanding minerals and mining industry. To date exhibitors from nine countries have contracted to take part in the show at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) from January 27-29. — (menareport.com)
