Egypt recently signed an agreement with Japan to develop technology in the Egyptian mining industry, reported the Al-Ahram daily. Under the agreement, Japan will help Egypt advance its mining industry through technological means, including the introduction of lasers into the mining process.
The project is expected to last four years, and will serve the needs of mainly small and mid-sized companies. Egyptian officials stated that a Japanese group intends to finance the project. The Japanese side is expected to allocate about five million dollars to purchase equipment to establish semi-industrial units throughout the country, which in turn, are projected to provide many new work opportunities. — (MENA Report)
