Japan to provide Algeria with €22 million for reconstruction of schools destroyed by earthquake

Algerian Education Minister, Boubekeur Benbouzid, and Japan ambassador in Algiers, Akira Urabe inked Wednesday a protocol agreement to fund a project for the reconstruction of the schools damaged by the earthquake which took place in Boumerdes and Algiers on May 21st 2003.  

 

During the signing ceremony, held in presence of officials from the Ministries for Foreign Affairs and National Education, Benbouzid hailed "Japan which was among the first nations to send aids to Algeria during the catastrophe, continues its cooperation with Algeria in several realms."  

 

According to APS, 2,850,000,000 Yens (€22 million Euro) will be directed for the reconstruction of six high schools, four colleges and 26 primary schools which were completely destroyed by the earthquake. (menareport.com)
