ALBAWABA - Amazon's founder, Jeff Bezos, made headlines this week by selling approximately 12 million shares of the company, totaling around $2 billion. This marks the first instance of Bezos selling Amazon shares since last year.

The sales occurred on Wednesday and Thursday, as reported by Bloomberg, with the net sales exceeding $2 billion.

Earlier this month, Amazon announced Bezos' plan to sell about 50 million shares over the next year, with hopes of capitalizing on the company's soaring stock prices and potentially securing his position as the world's wealthiest individual.

According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos' wealth has increased by $22.6 billion this year, reaching a staggering $199.5 billion by Friday.

Since 2002, Bezos has sold over $30 billion worth of Amazon shares, including a significant portion sold in 2020 and 2021.

Since records dating back to 2002, the founder of Amazon has offloaded more than $30 billion worth of shares, with approximately $20 billion of that sum being sold in the years 2020 and 2021.

Notably, he has largely been in the practice of donating stock, exemplified by his contribution of shares valued at around $230 million to nonprofit organizations in November.
