Sources at the Jordanian Treasury Ministry estimate the value of the Kingdom’s general budget for 2002 at nearly 430 million Jordanian Dinars ($607 million). This budget deficit is equivalent to 6.5 percent of the Kingdom’s GDP, which stands at JD 6.6 billion, reported Al-Hayat . Nevertheless, this deficit might decrease to JD 190 million, if Jordan receives an anticipated sum of JD 240 million in foreign aid. — (menareport.com)
