Under the patronage of Jordan's King Abdullah II, Jordan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA) is holding the second annual “Jordan IP Week 2004” from August 23-25, 2004. Jordan IP Week 2004 will bring together international and local intellectual property (IP) experts to discuss the critical issues that effect the IP environment.
Jordan IP Week 2004 follows last year’s first event that helped introduce IP and how the issues surrounding it have significant effect on the national economy.
“The questions surrounding IP are numerous. We hope through Jordan IP week 2004, to provide the right venue where both IP experts and participants will be able to consider the various issues faced in the IP environment today, to help form policies that are protective of their valuable intellectual property .” stated Rana Diab, Executive Director, JIPA.
Many public and private sector organizations will be participating in Jordan IP Week 2004, where IP matters will be presented to discuss and offer solutions through interactive workshops that will offer participants insights into the world of IP and conclude with workable recommendations.
“Whenever you are developing new products and services, and new markets for existing products and services, it is essential to create an intellectual property strategy. For instance, what trade marks need protection, how and where? What patent activity is required?” stated Mr. Muhanad Bushnaq, Chairman, JIPA, further adding, “Jordan IP Week 2004, aims to enhance the Jordanian publics knowledge of IP rights and laws with answers to these queries through the tailored seminars and workshops that will be held during the forum.”
Jordan IP Week 2004 will provide the platform for both private and public sectors to discuss and evaluate the updated methods and procedures for protecting their Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). It will also emphasis on the importance of IPRs in shifting the national economies forward, allowing the corporations to expand their businesses.
Jordan IP Week 2004 is organized by the Jordan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA) and the International Intellectual Property Institute (IIPI) Washington D.C., sponsored by United States Patents and Trademarks Office (USPTO), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and supported by the USAID-funded AMIR Program.
