A bridge built in Amman, Jordan, by L&T - India’s leading engineering and construction company - was opened to traffic on December 14.  Dr. Ma'Rouf Al Bakhit, Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, inaugurated the bridge in the presence of Eng. Omar Al Mani, the Mayor of Greater Amman, Mr Rachakondu Dayakar, the Indian Ambassador, and senior executives of L&T.

The 425m long cable-stayed bridge is the first cable-stayed bridge in Jordan, and is poised to become a new landmark in the capital city.  It crosses a valley and meanders with a complex "S" curve horizontal alignment.  The seismically designed, dual two-lane bridge is the first of its kind in the world.

The bridge has dual two-lane carriageways, each 7.28 m wide, and is supported on three towering pylons rising to a maximum height of 71 m from the bottom of the valley bed.
