Jordan signs new water agreements

Jordan's Minister of Water and Irrigation Hazem Al Nasser and U.S. Charge d' Affaires in Amman David Hale Tuesday signed a grant agreement whereby the U.S. Agency for International Development USAID provides $17.5 million to help finance two new construction and management contracts aimed at improving water management systems in the port city of Aqaba.


Under the agreement, USAID and the Jordanian government will jointly fund these contracts with USAID covering $17.5 million of the $20.2 million total cost, <i>Petra</i> reported.

 

Nasser also signed two agreements with Regional Director of the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) Michel Hawerz.
