Jordan Telecom Company (JTC) signed a 9.4 million Jordanian dinars (JD) deal on Tuesday with the French company, Sofrecom, to provide its customers with up to date customer care services and billing system.

According to Pierre Mattei, CEO of Jordan Telecom, the new system, dubbed the Customer Care and Billing System (CCBS), will support all current and planned products and services of the JTC, including basic voice services, ISDN, and value added services. The CCBS is expected to be fully operational by July 2001.

“The aim of the new CCBS project, is to facilitate communication with customers in order to provide the best services possible with the least complications, in addition to new services included in the project itself,” Mattei told reporters at a press conference.

The implementation of CCBS will include services such as discounts based on volumes of JTC services usage, with thresholds expressed in duration of usage, currency or number of connections.

Another new service would be the Itemized Invoice, which provides customers with detailed invoices at the end of each month, including the cost of all the different services contracted by the customer in total and in detail, including the duration and cost of each phone call made by the customer.

The new system will also permit providing account status information during the billing month. This service would be accessed by using an interactive voice response interface, customers calling the customer service center, or through the Internet.

The CCBS will be implemented in stages. Shabib Ammari, JTC chairman, told reporters that the project would commence with the launching of a website in March 2001, and would be completed by July 2001.

Ammari added that one of the features of the new service was the facilitated access to directory information: “in addition to modernizing the 121 directory number service, the Jordan phone directory will also be available on the JTC Internet website.”

Ammari noted that the JTC has no plans to increase service tariffs, adding that the new projects JTC offered were aimed at developing and facilitating telecommunications services in Jordan, rendering them compatible to services provided in advanced countries.

Sofrecom is a leading French consulting and marketing company, specializing in technology, network engineering and information systems. It is a part of the France Telecom Group, which owns 40 percent of the JTC. — ( Jordan Times )
