Industry statistics reveal that Jordan is the world’s third largest phosphate exporting country, following the United States and Morocco, according to Al-Bayan daily.

Director General of the Jordanian Natural Resource Authority, Maan Hiyari, maintained that Jordan exports four million tons of phosphate, 1.57 million tons of potassium and 600,000 tons of cement annually.

Jordan recently celebrated the opening of the International Decorative Stones Day, at which Hiyari stated that the nation’s mining sector contributes to 17 percent of the national income.

Hiyari estimates revenues of the Jordanian mining industries at 700 million Jordanian dinars ($987 million) per annum. –(Mena Report)
