Former Qatari Minister of Justice, Najib Nuaymeh, stated that a Jordanian businessman who had previously stolen approximately $30 million (later estimated at $125 million) and was discovered after four months in London, has once again played foul, and is refusing to return the money. The 44 year old businessman, George Rezq, had previously run an investment fund in Doha for seven years, and stole the money from his clients, most of whom were Gulf State citizens, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat daily.
Initially he had agreed to transfer $30 million to his 1,450 investment clients, but then broke the agreement. Nuaymeh added that from the recently uncovered documents, Rezq fled from Qatar with $125 million rather than $30 million. The minister described Rezq’s behavior as a financial blow to all of the Gulf States. –(MENA Report)
