Jumbo Electronics, one of the UAE's first transnational corporations is making their refrigeration products available to the US market. The company has been working diligently on redesigning each refrigeration model in order for their products to be competitive with other brand names such as White Westinghouse, Khaleej Times daily reports. The modifications seek to satisfy Western consumers by catering to their primary concerns of safety and the environment. Jumbo Electronics is hoping to be as influential in the West as they are in the Middle East, distributing merchandise such as chest freezers and ice cream conservators.
The redesigned products will be manufactured in the company's new plant in Jebel Ali, scheduled to open in the next few weeks. The full facility is expected to cost more than Dh120 million. The factory will be the first temperature controlled facility for manufacturing such units in the region and in turn, will enhance the quality of the refrigeration units.
The new facility will be the first in the region to use non-CFC gases for its components. Many customers in the US and Europe are eco-conscious and prefer to use products that conform to new environmental standards. Thus, the elimination of the CFC gases will give Jumbo Electronics a leading edge in the business. In addition, the factory in Jebel Ali will provide higher import substitution items in regards to lid liners for chest freezers refrigerator units. Raw material however, will continue to be imported. With all these new additions and innovations Jumbo's Supra Industrial Co. in Jebel Ali will have a 100,000 unit production capacity each year.
