Kawar Group signed an agreement with Abdali Investment & development PSC to acquire a land in the Abdali Urban regeneration project in order to build its headquarters. Kawar Group intends to build a seven-floor building that comprises around 9000 sqm of office space which is intended to serve the Groups’ wholly owned companies and other affiliated enterprises.
Known for the past five decades as a regional shipping and logistics pillar, today Kawar Group ranks among the leading privately-owned groups in Jordan bringing together more than 22 companies from five industries, with diversified interests in shipping and transportation, information and communications technologies, travel and tourism, health care, trade and project development in both the domestic and regional markets.
“The strategic location of the project in addition to the modern infrastructure that will be developed were behind our group’s decision to move our headquarters to Abdali”, Said Mr. Rudain Kawar. “In addition to that, the value added services provided which include complex security, ongoing maintenance and telecommunication facilities made us confident of our choice.”
Mr. Kawar also added: “After consolidating the Group’s fundamental operations, we are now expanding through investments in various emerging sectors with several partners in telecommunications, manufacturing and logistics. These expansions that reflect our successful growth and our commitment to better serve our local and regional clients necessitated the relocation of the group companies into a more sophisticated environment with state–of–the art facilities which will positively reflect on the working environment we wish to provide to our dedicated staff”.
Mr. Jamal Itani, CEO of Abdali Investment & development PSC said during the signing ceremony: “We wish to welcome Kawar Group as one of the main developers in our project and we are confident that their presence will add value to the whole offering. Their headquarters should be ready along other major developments in the city by 2009”.
Covering more than 35 Hectares, Abdali is the largest contiguous, single owned, vacant plot in the center of Amman. The total built up area of the Abdali site is around 1 million sqm with an investment plan exceeding 1 billion USD. The new downtown will create around 10,000 new job opportunities and will comprise of seven main sectors: Civic Pole, Towers area, University campus, pedestrian spine, central marketplace, Nabulsi St., as well as the transient housing district comprising of Medical, Residential, and legal districts. The project will also incorporate an educational landmark to the city, the American University of Jordan graduate campus.
Construction of Kawar Headquarters is expected to commence end of this year and to conclude in 2009.
