Kiev has "good chances" of winning a multi-billion dollar deal for 1,000 tanks, Turkish Defense Minister Sabahattin Cakmakoglu said on Wednesday, August 8. "We will take a decision in two to three months. But in my view the Ukrainian T-84 tank has good chances" of getting the contract, he said after official talks in the autonomous Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea.

Ukraine is in competition with Germany, the United States and France for a tender from the Turkish government for a tank sale. The T-84 tank, manufactured in the eastern city of Kharkiv, is a heavy armored vehicle, equipped with a 120 mm cannon which conforms to NATO standards.
