Kuwait and Iran signed a cooperation agreement Monday in Kuwait City on the transfer of workers, social affairs and vocational training, the KUNA news agency reported.

Kuwaiti Labor Minister Abdul Wahab Al-Wazzan and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Kamali, whose countries sealed an accord in October to combat drug trafficking and terrorism, inked the latest agreement.

Kamali said around 45,000 Iranian laborers work in oil-rich Kuwait, along with 12,000 dependents, while Wazzan said the emirate was keen to recruit skilled workers from Iran, especially electronic and computer engineers. — (AFP, Kuwait City)
