The secretary general of the Manpower and Government Restructuring Programme (MGRP) in Kuwait, Fauzi Al-Majdali, said that MGRP is working on ‘Kuwaitizing’ all administrative jobs in the private sector as part of a five-year plan.

Some 166 administrative job categories are currently held by 84,573 expats, Al-Majdali noted.

He did not provide any explanations on how the plan will be implemented.

In recent months, there have been calls to deport expats, expel foreign workers who are over 50, and ban foreigners from driving, among other measures to limit expats in the country.

Kuwait MPs have been particularly vocal about limiting foreign workers, said to account for as much as 70 percent of the population.
