The Kuwait International Airport recorded a 13 percent increase in passenger traffic in the first nine months of 2002. The number of flyers reached 377,564 compared to 333,986 during the same period in 2001, reported KUNA.
The airport also recorded an 11 percent increase in incoming and outgoing flights from January to September, reaching 377,564 compared to 333,986 flights during the same period last year. Cargo traffic also increased by 27 percent during the same period.
Completed in 1978, the Kuwait International Airport lies 16.5 kilometers outside of Kuwait City. The airport’s passenger capacity is five million per annum with 38 international airlines landing at the facility. Its cargo facilities consist of bonded warehouses, cold storage, dangerous goods room and outsize cargo handling. — (menareport.com)
