Kuwait signs contract for 11,000 housing unit project

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Housing and the International Financial Advisors Company (IFA) Wednesday signed a consultations services contract for the 11,000-unit Uraifjan Project.

 

Kuwait's Minister of Public Works and State Minister of Housing Bader Al-Humaidi said that the project is part of the ministry's "ambitious" program to cope with the growing number of applicants for housing during the sixth and seventh five-year plans.

 

According to KUNA, the Uraifjan Project is located 65 kilometers south of Kuwait City. It has an area of some 35 square kilometers and will absorb over 90,000 residents.

 

The average cost of a government-built house along with facilities and services is about KD 55,000, while a citizen only pays KD 37,000 for it. (1KD=US$ 3.3).
