ALBAWABA - Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA), an entity responsible for overseeing the telecommunications sector, monitor, and protect the interests of users and service providers and regulate the services of telecommunication networks in the country, announced that telecom companies are preparing to launch the advanced fifth generation "5G" internet services in Kuwait in the next three month, amid the end of 2024.

As per Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) announcement, telecommunications companies are committed to prepare and equip networks to launch advanced fifth generation mobile telecommunications services (5G) within the next three months.

Additionally, telecom companies will be launching the new service on the same date after completing the preparation and equipment of the networks and obtaining the approval of the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA), according to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Anba.
5G license
According to the decision made by the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA), mobile communications operators can apply for a license to operate the advanced fifth generation mobile communications technology (5G) by paying $1 million (305,410 KWD). The license fees must be paid within six months of the license issuance.
Furthermore, the decision stated that mobile operators will be allocated frequency channels in the 2600 MHz and 2300 MHz bands for 5G services. The allocation will use a dual access system with time division and operators must comply with terms, conditions, and obligations, and pay the annual fees set for licensing these frequency channels.
