Kuwaiti consumers require better quality merchandise

Despite the general economic slowdown in Kuwaiti markets, the construction of large and exclusive trade centers is continuing with full force, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper.  


While owners of several stores in some local trade centers continue to complain about the declining number of customers and sales, other centers are apparently recording tremendous sales and profits. 


In an attempt to uncover why some malls are making hefty gains, whereas others can not afford to cover their rent costs, a noticeable difference was detected between places emphasizing superior quality, compared to stores that fall behind in this regard. It was gathered that the quality of the merchandise and prestige of the firm are increasingly becoming key-factors in attracting the Kuwaiti customer. 


The newly opened Emporium Al-Sayer Mall, for example, has achieved great demand by the Kuwaiti customers. Its success is attributed to the fact that it displays worldwide leading brand names. Furthermore, it focuses on specific merchandise categories and targets a precise segment of the Kuwaiti society. — (Albawaba-MEBG)
