Land Rover Middle East and Africa, in conjunction with the exclusive United Arab Emirates (UAE) importer of Land Rover, Al-Tayer Motors and Al-Otaiba Group, have announced the official launch of the new the 2003-model Discovery.
The unveiling of the 2003 Discovery marks the second new vehicle launch in a matter of months by Land Rover, part of the Premier Automotive Group.
The latest Land Rover Discovery features a new look, echoing the new Range Rover, a revised interior with new trim colors and a number of significant technical enhancements, designed to improve the vehicle’s both on- and off-road ability.
The most significant change to the vehicle lies at the front, where it now has Range Rover-style twin pocket clear headlamps, complete with a new bumper and grill. Also changed outside the vehicle are the rear lights; the indicators have moved up to the high-level clusters, and the reversing lights have moved down to the bumper.
The new 2003 Discovery is powered either by the proven 4.0-litre 136 kW (184 bhp) V8 petrol engine or the 2.5-litre 101 kW (138 bhp) Td5 five-cylinder turbodiesel engine. The Td5 engine produces up to 340 Nm (250 lb ft) of torque at under 2,000 rpm for on-road driveability and off-road prowess. For North America only, the latest Discovery gets a 162 kW (217 bhp) 4.6-litre V8 power unit in place of the 4.0 V8. This move is to suit the unique requirements of that market. — (menareport.com)
