A leaking fuel rail seal has led to a recall of 424 Chrysler minivans in the UAE by DaimlerChrysler Middle east, reported the Khaleej Times. Involved are Chrysler Voyagers with 3.3-liter V-6 engines, manufactured between 1996 and 19999 and some 2000 models.
Only 43 leaking fuel rail seals have been reported out of 1.4 million minivans sold worldwide, and the company has been unable to establish whether they were responsible for 19 under-engine fires in the vehicle. There were no serious injuries or deaths related to the problem.
No real pattern has been established, said David Glorius, vice president of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep in the Middle East, adding that “DaimlerChrysler is voluntarily conducting a recall to give customers the added assurance that future problems will be prevented." According to Glorius, repair parts are currently being tested and will be sent to distributors early in the new year. —(Albawaba-MEBG)
