Microsoft is reportedly reevaluating its Xbox exclusivity strategy, considering releasing titles like Bethesda's Starfield, Rare's Sea of Thieves, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to platforms beyond Xbox and PC, according to insider sources.

ALBAWABA – Microsoft appears to be reconsidering its Xbox exclusivity plans regarding multiple game titles, as claimed by different reports from The Verge and XboxEra, which say that according to insider sources, Microsoft is leaning towards releasing different Xbox and PC exclusive releases into different platforms like the PS5, such titles include Bethesda’s Starfield, Rare’s Sea of Thieves and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle by MachineGames.

According to XboxEra and their sources, after releasing Starfield’s upcoming expansion, Shattered Space, which is set to be launched later this year, Microsoft is planning to release a PS5 version of the game after senior leaders had debated the boons and banes of such release, adding that while many in the company disagreed with the decision, it went through to release exclusive titles on different platform so not to miss on the potential financial return.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, was showcased last month in Microsoft’s Xbox Developer Direct event as a PC and Xbox release, but according to IGN, the game was originally intended to have a PS5 version before Microsoft’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media was finalized, it is believed that Microsoft reconsidered their decision with the game being on the list of games that will witness the new multi-platform strategy, with plans for a short-term exclusivity after release around December before a PS5 version comes to light a few months after, according to The Verge.

The Verge notes that these time frames are subject to change as Microsoft’s new tactic is not in its final form yet, with the company considering Nintendo’s Switch as a potential platform for releases as well, adding that Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush have also been the subject of discussion regarding different platforms, with an announcement regarding Hi-Fi Rush expected in a few weeks.
