Dr. Salim al Hoss, the Lebanese Premier, has taken the opportunity of a recent conference in Beirut to lay open his economic vision.
The event, directed to local and foreign accountants called Accounting Information and Value Added, was co-organized by the Central Bank of Lebanon and the French accounting associations, Nida al Watan daily reported.
In his speech, Dr. al Hoss stated "We face huge economic systems, and we won't be able to compete with them, before we modify our thinking and business practices." The premier added that the Lebanese people should ask themselves what are the effects of the IT on their future and what are the new products that will develop based on modern technology. To meet these challenges, the Lebanese should be fully aquatinted regarding the IT industry and comprehend the opportunities that it provides them. He concluded by saying that today "We are in the era of globalization that opens the gates, abolishes barriers for services transfer, frees global economy and markets and thus we have to support professionals such as accountants...."
