The Lebanese treasury ministry reported that its debt grew to 4,639 billion Lebanese pounds by the end of November 2000, up from LP 3,285 billion at the end of November 1999. These figures imply that the local rate of debt increased from 43.53 percent to 52.23 percent during the same period.
The Ministry reported also that its spending and payments totaled LP 8,883 billion ($5.9 billion) in the first 11 months of 2000, compared to LP 7,546 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year. These figures translate into a LP 1,337 billion increase.
The treasury’s revenues decreased from LP 4,262 billion to LP 4,244 billion during the same period. This implies an LP 18 billion decline in revenues. ¯ (Albawaba-MEBG)
