The Lebanese cabinet approved a draft law to incorporate the Council for Greater Beirut Projects and the Council for Construction Projects into the Council for Development and Reconstruction.
The move confirms the CDR as the country’s main coordinator and supervisor of reconstruction projects. A previous draft law mandated the creation of a new organization by merging the three entities.
Under the new law, the merger will still take place but all functions will remain under the CDR’s authority. The decision is expected to help solve problems related to the CDR in terms of processing construction funding from abroad. — (Lebanon Invest)
