Lebanese officials on Saturday, June 30, rejected an offer of conditional Iraqi aid, and restated their solidarity with Kuwait, the official Kuwaiti agency reported.
"We do not accept aid which is conditioned by the political and diplomatic positions wanted by Iraq," Lebanese Energy and Water Minister Mohamed Abdelhamid Baydhoun told KUNA.
According to the agency, the Iraq's minister of state for foreign affairs, Naji Sabri, two days earlier laid out conditions to Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri under which Iraq would supply Lebanon with oil, either free or at prefential prices.
Among the conditions was "the lifting of the ban on the activities of Iraqi Baath party," the agency said. — (AFP)
