ALBAWABA – Lebanon is currently facing extraordinarily high airline ticket prices amid the recent escalations between Israel, Lebanon, and Iran. The country usually experiences high demand and increased prices for airline tickets in summer as many expats and citizens who live abroad visit the country, but Lebanon has been witnessing insane ticket prices since the very recent developments.
High prices for airline tickets in Lebanon
Some analysts claim the high prices are due to the high demand, as people are trying to flee the country. But this is not particularly true as the country always witnesses a busy summer with high demand for airline tickets. International airlines are being accused of exploiting citizens who are trying to leave the country.
On the other hand, there are many factors that contribute to the latest increase in airline tickets like rescheduling dates and days of flights and changing certain destinations. These changes were imposed after diverse international airlines canceled or changed their routes to Beirut, amid the recent escalations and conflicts in the Middle East.

Tickets to Paris ranged between $2,250 and $2,500, while tickets to Canada ranged between $7,700 and $8,000 per flight. (Shutterstock)
The price of a ticket from Beirut to Istanbul ranged between $800 and $2,100, while a ticket from Beirut to Cyprus ranged between $1,600 and $1,900, and a ticket from Beirut to Abu Dhabi ranged between $1,000 and $1,500, as recorded by almodon.com.
Travelling to more distant locations is even costing an additional thousands of dollars. Tickets to Paris ranged between $2,250 and $2,500 while tickets to Canada ranged between $7,700 and $8,000 per flight. It is worth noting that prices always vary depending on the date of booking, the number of stops, and the length of the stop.
Tickets are very high to many different destinations globally, reflecting the unethical exploitation being imposed by airline companies on Lebanese people, others fleeing the war, and individuals who are trying to go back to their countries of residence. Consequently, many people are choosing to stay in Lebanon until the escalations finish and airline tickets go back to their normal prices.
Lebanon flights suspension
Amid the recent escalations and conflicts in the region, many international airlines suspended their flights to and from Beirut. Air France, Lufthansa, Transavia, Royal Jordanian, Turkish Airlines' SunExpress, Turkish Airlines' AJet, Greece's Aegean Airlines, and Ethiopian Airlines suspended their flights to Beirut in the past 9 days.
Middle East Airlines, the flag carrier of Lebanon, continues to operate their flights to different countries but with daily adjustments on times, dates, and destinations, according to safety measures and escalations conditions.
