Lebanon's bourse activity for September

capitalization for the month stood at $1.68 billion—a 2 percent increase relative to the figure in August. The total transactions volume reached 1.3 million shares, with a value of $6.8 million. 


Solidere lost $2.7 million in the first semester compared to $436,000 in the same period in 1999. The result has been attributed to important administrative impediments that have taken place for two years already. 


The net profit of Byblos Bank stands at $35.7 million over the first 9 months of the year—a decrease of 4.5 percent over one year. Customer deposits reached $3.06 billion, represnting a rise of 7.9. 

Net profits for Banque Audi stands at $27.8 million over the same period, a decrease of 7.1 percent for the year. Customer deposits reached $3 billion, a 18.4. 

BLOM saw a rise of 11.8 percent rise in net profit, reaching $58.8 million. Customer deposits also rose 18.3 percent to $4.8 billion. 


The Hilton in down town Beirut will be demolished by its owners, La Société Méditerranéene des Grands Hôtels. A new Hilton of 20 stories will be rebuilt with a rooftop restaurant and a 1,000 m² banquet hall. This project is estimated at $70 million. — ( Banque Libano-Française Sal )
