Lexmark International, Inc., a leading developer, manufacturer and supplier of printing solutions, is shortly opening a full-fledged office in Cairo in order to tap the growth potential in Egypt’s printer market.

François Feuillet, General Manager Lexmark Int. Middle East FZ LLC, said: “Egypt is the third biggest market in terms of volume after Saudi Arabia and the UAE in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region. We see the printer market in Egypt growing exponentially in the coming years, considering the current growth trend.”

According to international market research firm IDC, the printer market in Egypt is expected to grow by 5.7% this year to 164,030 units against 155,143 units in 2005. This includes 63,746 laser, 3,856 matrix and 96,428 inkjet printers. For the entire Middle East, IDC estimates a 5.38% growth this year with total sales expected to touch 1.70 million units against 1.61 million units in 2005.

With a wide array of printing solutions, Lexmark is ideally poised to enlarge its presence in the MENA region including Egypt. The company’s products have been recognized by industry leaders as outstanding in technology and innovation.

For example, the Lexmark X644e, X646e, X646dte, X850e, X852e and X854e were recognized as leading devices in Better Buys for Business' 2006 Multifunction Printer Guide. All six devices feature a vivid new color touch screen interface that can be easily customized to simplify complex business processes and help customers save time and money. Better Buys for Business is an independent reviewer of document imaging equipment.

Moreover, the X644e, X646e and X646dte offer print and copy speeds of up to 50 pages per minute (ppm) as well as fax and scan capabilities.

InfoWorld, a leading technology publication that reviews enterprise products and services, recently chose the Lexmark W840dn as its top pick for tabloid-size monochrome laser printers.

The Lexmark P450, which was used during the recent ‘Print & Win’ contest in the UAE, is a compact (15.3 x 27.6 x 23.5cm), single-cartridge, 4,800 x 1,200dpi resolution, three-colour inkjet printer that can print from a number of media types, as well as offer an option to archive images directly to a CD.

“With such exceptionally innovative products offering the latest in technology, Lexmark is sure to enlarge its market share in the entire MENA region especially in Egypt,” remarked Mr. Feuillet.

Lexmark’s printing solutions include laser and inkjet printers, multifunction products, associated supplies and services for offices and homes in more than 150 countries.
