LibanCell has launched the wireless edition of Oracle9i Application Server’s new Stretch portal. Customers of the Lebanese GSM provider are now able to utilize the multi-access portal via the Internet, WAP, and short messaging service (SMS) to receive news, entertainment, and e-mail content, including personalization features.
LibanCell selected Oracle9i Application Server Wireless based on the concept of a single platform for the development, deployment, and management of the Stretch portal. The GSM provider has found that Oracle's technology enables it to build key applications just once for multi-channel user access, resulting in a less costly and more secure mobile offering.
LibanCell's Stretch portal is integrated with the GSM provider's short messaging service center and billing system, and runs on a Sun Microsystems hardware platform. Oracle alliance partner Eskadenia provided implementation and integration services for the Stretch initiative.
LibanCell was incorporated in Beirut in 1994. It serves close to 385,000 subscribers and processes more than three million calls per day. — (menareport.com)
