Cellular phone network operator LibanCell and National Bank of Kuwait –Lebanon (NBK) launched last week a “cell-banking” service that will enable NBK customers to carry out various banking transactions over their cellular phones. The service will be offered free for the first six months, and then will carry a $1-2 monthly charge.
NBK customers who are subscribers to the Cellis cellular network will also receive messages, although they will not be able to conduct any banking transactions, at least initially. NBK becomes the second bank to offer such a service following Societe Generale Libano-Europeenne de Banque, which is working with Cellis. — ( Banque du Liban et d'Outre-Mer Sal )
