Libyan Iron and Steel Company increases output

The Libyan Iron and Steel Company (LISC) produced 918,000 tons of long and flat products in 2004 compared to 835,000 tons in 2003. This latest figure represents a 18% increase.

 

LISC mainly produced reinforced steel, which its production amounted to 460,000 tons in 2004 compared to 412.000 tons in 2003. By these production, LISC ranked third among Arab iron and steel products manufacturing and exporting firms during 2004.

 

LISCO plants consists of a direct reduction plant, two steel melt shops, a three-line bar and rod mill, a light and medium section mill, a hot strip mill and a cold strip mill with a galvanizing line and a coating line.
