A major gas field with reserves estimated at more than 60 billion cubic meters (2.1 trillion cubic feet) has been discovered in western Iraq's Akas region close to Syria, Al-Zawra newspaper reported Thursday, November 8 quoting an oil ministry source.
Iraq's gas reserves are estimated at 5,000 billion cubic meters, of which 3,100 billion are proven. — (AFP, Baghdad)
