ALBAWABA - Thousands of flights were canceled in the United States as a major winter storm is expected to leave 190 million people across several states with heavy snow and freezing rain, NBC News reported.
American media confirmed that the major winter storm is the strongest in years and it will be affecting about 190 million people across 37 states, from the Rockies to New England.
The report further mentioned that more than 10,000 flights within, into or out of the U.S. were canceled during the weekend.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani posted a clip on X and wrote a caption, "We're getting a snowstorm tomorrow. But New York City is prepared." He said in the video, "Right now, a big winter storm is headed our way. It looks like at least 8 to 9 inches of snow, if not more."
Mamdani stressed that the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY) is fully ready to combat the winter storm and that thousands of DSNY trucks have been turned into snow plow trucks.
"Take this storm seriously, folks," the official X account for the National Weather Service wrote, adding, "Hazardous to impossible driving conditions are expected. Avoid travel if at all possible."
