A company representative has revealed that they are expecting to rake in some USD 20 million in regional sales from 2009 to 2010, amidst their intensive efforts to attract more business from the Middle East. In line with this, the company has identified the ‘Dubai International Wood & Wood Machinery Show 2009’ as a potential-laden event and an ideal platform to create awareness on its products and services, and thereby facilitate its entry into the regional market.

“Despite the global recession, Dubai is still perceived as the springboard to the Eastern European, Middle Eastern and Northern African markets,” said Leroy Wong, Marketing Manager, Java Incorporated Bhd. “We are positive that our participation at the ‘Dubai International Wood & Wood Machinery Show 2009’ for the first time is a strong step towards achieving our goals of entrenching a significant presence in the regional market, and reaching the targets we have set for the coming years. We are looking forward to showcasing our unique and top quality products to customers in the Middle East and we are hoping for an excellent overall participation at the event.”

Segamat Panel Boards Sdn. Bhd. is another high profile Malaysian exhibitor, whose participation at the event is part of its preparation to launch the newest products in the region by the end of the year. With aims to build strong business relations with regional furniture manufacturers, the company will showcase its medium density fibreboard and paper laminating MDFs at the event. Company officials have also revealed that their main activities at the show will revolve around the introduction of its current product range to the region, while gathering market information on the Middle East and meeting existing customers and potential partners.

“Our successful participation in the previous event has prompted us to be present once again at this year’s ‘Dubai International Wood & Wood Machinery Show’, and we are looking forward to building up on the business ties we have initiated with regional customers last year. We are confident that introducing our latest products to the Middle East customers will provide a boost to its demand and consumption, as the region is one of the key markets that we are targeting in our growth strategy for 2009,” said Peter Fitch, Managing Director, Segamat Panel Boards Sdn. Bhd.

In addition to Malaysian companies, the show will also witness a large presence of Europe-based players though the participation of European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (EUMABOIS). American exporters and manufacturers will also be present at the American Hardwood Pavilion organised by the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), while the Canadian Trade Commission will serve as one of Canada’s representatives on the event. Furthermore, the show is also expected to gather leading wood and woodworking companies from across the globe, including Stallinger Holding GmbH (Austria), Vebim Working Machinery NV (Belgium), Leif & Lorentz A/S (Denmark), Frenchtimber (France), Koppensteiner-Veneer (Germany), Florian Legno Spa (Italy), and A.Barbosa LDA (Portugal), among others.

“Malaysian companies have always played a significant role since the early editions of the ‘Dubai International Wood & Wood Machinery Show’, and we are glad that they continue to be a part of this event amidst the ever-changing dynamics of the industry. As among the leading players in the global wood and wood machinery industry, Malaysian exporters continue to be the source of some of the most breakthrough products that the event has seen so far, and we are positive that we will see some unique offerings in the Malaysian pavilion at the event,” concluded Saif Hashmath, Exhibition Director, Strategic Marketing and Exhibitions.
