Maroc Telecom has awarded Tekelec a contract for its Eagle 5 Signaling Application System (SAS). The turnkey solution will restructure the company's entire signaling network and includes a long-term service commitment.
Tekelec's SAS hosts a variety of applications from a single, high-performance platform, including SS7 signal transfer, number portability, signaling gateway, integrated services, and data mining. The system supports the IETF Sigtran suite of signaling protocols for next-generation network connectivity, creating a clear path forward to packet telephony and 3G networks
Maroc Telecom is the largest telecommunications provider and mobile operator in Morocco. Global media and communications company Vivendi Universal holds 35 percent of Maroc Telecom's shares and is responsible for managing its operations. Maroc Telecom has 3.7 million mobile phone subscribers and 1.2 million fixed-line telephone subscribers.
US-based Tekelec is a developer of telecommunications signaling solutions, including packet-telephony, monitoring, and value-added applications.
