Leading make-up innovator Max Factor, provider of make-up for the Oscar-nominated Martin Scorsese epic “The Aviator”, recently hosted the film’s UAE premier at the Grand Cineplex. Morag Ross, a Max Factor make-up artist and chief of make-up for the movie, attended the gala event which transported attendees back in time to the glamorous Hollywood era of the 1930s and 1940s. They celebrated the iconic beauties of that age – Katharine Hepburn, Ava Gardner and Jean Harlow – who are depicted in the film and whose make-up was created by Max Factor himself. A worthwhile experience remembered by all, the premier left women craving to recreate those classic looks with the magic of Max Factor’s Colour Adapt, Silk Gloss, Lipfinity Everlites and More Lashes.

As part of the premier activities, Ross helped commemorate the make-up artistry of that bygone era with an exclusive make-up workshop held at the Fairmont Hotel. Professional make-up artists from across Dubai enthusiastically displayed their artistic bent by quickly learning the make-up techniques Ross employed on the set of “The Aviator”.

Commenting on the workshop, Ross said, “I noticed that the look we had created on the movie set using Max Factor’s newest products is very much in harmony with the truly distinctive look of the Arab woman. With their emphasis on eyes and lips, women of the region are sure to find much in these Hollywood-tested products to catch their imaginations.”

Ross has been a devotee of Max Factor cosmetics throughout her career. “I did all my training using Max Factor products, as they are recognized as the original, professional make-up brand. I am honoured to be associated with this brand, which is so widely trusted within the industry. Max Factor was an innovator of many ground-breaking products during the early years of film and continues to serve as an inspiration for his company, which continues to lead developments in the field. It’s no surprise that Hollywood goddesses both then and now prefer Max Factor make-up.”

“It’s a truly incredible feeling to apply Max Factor make-up to the faces of these actresses and see them overwhelmed by the transformation effected by the products,” Ross added.

At the premier, hundreds of eminent dignitaries from the media and trade and 100 lucky ‘Aviator’ raffle winners experienced the recreated ambience of the 1930s and 1940s in the main lobby, where fashion props from the era were displayed and promoters dressed in period costumes recreated scenes from the movie. Guests enjoyed the mock Hollywood “Walk of Fame” sidewalk stars of the famous actors portrayed in the film and admired a gigantic poster displaying the life and times of Max Factor. Plasma screens displayed Morag talking about some of her best work using Max Factor’s latest make-up, interspersed with scenes from the movie.

Before the actual showing of the film, Ross welcomed the guests and awarded a professional Max Factor make-up case to the workshop attendee who had displayed the greatest skill.

The premier and the make-up workshop were a natural result of Max Factor’s long association with Hollywood and the silver screen, reflecting the legendary impact of both Max Factor the man and Max Factor the company on the film and make-up industries.
