Meager activity on Cairo’s stock exchange

On Sunday, December 17, the market traded downward on lackluster volumes, as US and European investors were away from the market. Stocks shed value across the board—led lower by large-cap stocks. Local GSM provider MobiNiL (EMOB. CA) and regional telecom giant Orascom Telecom – OT (ORTE.CA) ended 3.10 percent and 1.98 percent lower at LE79.27 and LE58.40, respectively. Commercial International Bank – CIB (COMI.CA) dipped 0.85 percent to close at LE35.04.  

 

Conversely, Chipsy for Food Industries (CFIN.CA) continued to trade nearly limit up, closing 4.87 percent higher at LE7.32. Misr Hotels –Hilton (MHOT.CA) was the top gainer, climbing 4.98 percent to LE93.01 on meager volume of 1,302 shares. Overall, the PAMI closed 1.64 percent lower at 7,981.8 while the PIPO slipped 0.28 percent to 1,700.1.
