A United Arab Emirate (UAE) manufacturer said that it expects the Middle East's new security showcase in Dubai to provide a major sales boost for X-ray scanners giving protection against suspicious packages sent by mail.
Dubai-based Citytec Special Equipment said at the Middle East Police and Law Enforcement Exhibition and Conference (MEPLEX) today that orders worth at least three million Emirati dirhams ($816,771) should follow in the next few months for its Scanmax X-ray scanners.
The company's general manager, Roger Whitting, announced at MEPLEX that Dubai Police had this week become the latest customer for the product, which could soon be in use in hotels throughout the emirate in the build-up to next year's International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Annual Meeting.
Citytec is displaying a wide range of detection equipment for explosives and narcotics at MEPLEX, the four-day event, organized by Streamline Marketing, which reaches its conclusion at Dubai Police Academy tomorrow evening (Wednesday). The company also confirmed that it has reached an agreement with an advertising agency to provide bomb-proof dustbins for use at a number of airport and city center locations in Dubai.
The dustbins provide protection from explosives dumped with trash, and the agency has placed a Dh 1.5 million order for the product which will be branded prior to being placed at airport and garage forecourt locations.
MEPLEX is being held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, UAE Defense Minister and Head of Dubai Police. The event is supported by SITO, the Association of Police and Public Security Suppliers National Training Organisations, Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Regional Law Enforcement Agencies. — (menareport.com)
