Metito completes Dh25m sewage project in Baaya-Sila, Ghuwaifat

Metito, the international water treatment, desalination and wastewater treatment expert, has completed work on a Dh25 million contract to install three sewage treatment plants in the towns of Baaya-Sila and Ghuwaifat, which comes under the purview of Abu Dhabi Municipality.

 

With the successful execution of the project, Metito has further emphasized its commitment to safeguard the environment in the UAE, as part of its management’s directives for continuous improvement and obligation to reduce direct and indirect impacts onto the ecosystem, besides meeting the basic water requirements in the area.

 

The scope of the contract encompassed design, supply and installation state-of-the-art sewage treatment plants constructed as part of the infrastructure development in the three towns; and handing over the completed project to the Sewerage Projects Committee at Abu Dhabi Municipality.

The project, which was part of the Western Region Sewerage Project catering to nine villages in Abu Dhabi’s Western Region, will help the country sustain the pace of social and economic development. The contract included mechanical works associated with nine pumping stations, effluent storage and irrigation reuse facilities including an effluent tanker filling station and other related works.

 

Mr. Al Zoubi added: “Metito is devoted to protecting the environment through action-oriented programmes and community involvement. Over the years, the company has developed a solid track record of successful relationships through initiatives targeted at mitigating environmental impacts. We were determined to ensure that the systems we introduced in the project were eco-friendly and the new sewage treatment plants did not impact the environment in any way.”

Metito also provided a SCADA system to control and monitor the Sewage Treatment Plant and Sewage Lift Stations. The project consultant was KEO International Consultants in joint venture with USA’s Metcalf & Eddy. Mr. Al Zoubi said: “It was imperative for us to ensure that the treated effluent was of safe quality to be used later for irrigation purposes. By successfully executing this project, we have once again demonstrated our expertise in the area.”
