Mexico's producer prices showed a slowdown in May on a monthly basis, according to official figures released by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) on Friday.

The producer price index monthly rose 0.45% in May, compared to the same month of last year, INEGI said in a statement.

The figure shows a slowdown from April when it recorded a monthly gain of 0.63%.

At a monthly rate, primary prices grew 2.81%, secondary ones increased 0.31%, and tertiary activities rose 0.25%, said INEGI.

On an annual basis, producer prices increased 3.33% in May, compared to the same month of 2023.

That figure, however, showed an acceleration from the annual gain of 2.56% seen in April.
