ALBAWABA - Palestinians residing overseas have accused Microsoft of abruptly terminating their email accounts, depriving them of access to essential internet services. This development coincides with continuous internet and communication difficulties brought on by Israeli bombardment in the Gaza Strip.

Serious accusations have been made by Palestinians living abroad against Microsoft, saying that the computer giant has been abruptly canceling their email accounts. These restrictions have prevented access to basic services like bank accounts and job offers. Furthermore, the crisis has prevented Palestinians from using Microsoft-owned communication apps like Skype to maintain in contact with their family in Gaza.

Palestinian resident in Saudi Arabia Eiad Hametto told the BBC about his ordeal, stating, "They killed my online life." I had been using my email account for about 20 years, however it was suspended. This account is connected to all of my work." Hametto spoke about how his Skype account was suspended and he was unable to get in touch with his family in Gaza.

Due to ongoing Israeli military drills and bombs, Gaza has been facing serious internet and communication problems. Regular internet failures occur, and typical international call rates are unaffordable. A crucial conduit for communication has been made possible by paid Skype subscriptions, which enable inexpensive calls to Gaza even in the event of internet outages.

Certain Palestinians believe that their accounts were blocked due to purported affiliations with Hamas. But Hametto refuted any such links, saying, "Our goal is to reach our families." We come from no political background."

Microsoft's Reaction
Microsoft refrained from openly addressing reports that accounts were closed. A corporate representative said that banning on Skype may happen when there is suspicion of fraud, but they also guaranteed that users are aware of their ability to challenge such decisions.
