ALBAWABA - Microsoft received a notice of the proposed amendment from the United States Internal Revenue Service to pay an additional tax of $28.9 billion, as reported by the company on Wednesday.
Microsoft stated that the dispute is related to the profits allocated to the company between states and jurisdictions between 2004 and 2013. The company mentioned that up to $10 billion in taxes it had already paid were not covered by the proposed amendments from the Internal Revenue Service.

Microsoft plans to challenge this notice through administrative appeal, indicating its readiness to go to legal proceedings if necessary.
The company stated in its file: "Microsoft does not agree with these proposed amendments and will continue to appeal the decision, a process expected to take several years. We believe that we have always followed the rules and paid the taxes owed to us in the United States and around the world."
